As you know, the Monterey Peninsula is known for its cool weather. Our cool weather is what attracts people from all over so they can give their sweat glands a rest. But September is our warmest month, and when it’s Autumn everywhere else, it’s like Summer here. That’s why we’ve come up with a few reminders about how to keep cool in your car while you’re commuting around Monterey, Seaside, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Marina, Salinas, Big Sur, and Moss Landing.
Have your air conditioning system checked. If your car’s A/C unit is blowing hot, or takes a while to cool down, come into Robert’s Collision & Repair for an inspection. Your air conditioning system may need more refrigerant, or it may have some leaks that need repair, but we won’t know for sure until we’ve inspected it.
Don’t leave the kids or the dogs in the car. All too often, we take our cooler weather for granted and allow the dogs and kids to stay in the car while we shop. But when the temperatures are higher, don’t take the risk. Even on a day with mild temps in the 80s, your parked car can still get into the 100s, causing a dangerous situation for your pets and children.
Park Under Cover. If it’s a particularly warm day, park your car in the shade. Here on the Monterey Peninsula, we have plenty of shade trees. We also have several municipal parking lots that offer covered parking. Not only will your vehicle stay cool in the shade, you’ll also protect your car paint from getting too much sun.
Keep Yourself and Your Vehicle Hydrated. When it’s warm weather, you should have at least one bottle of water on hand so you can keep yourself hydrated. Your vehicle will do well, too, if you make sure it has all of its fluids topped off. If you’re not sure what your car’s fluid levels should be, bring it into Robert’s Collision & Repair for an inspection. If we see that your vehicle is low on fluids or needs a fluid flush, we’ll let you know your options.
When your vehicle requires auto repair and scheduled maintenance, we invite you to visit Robert’s Collision & Repair at 234 Ramona Avenue in Monterey, CA, right off of Del Monte Blvd. and Highway 1 in Monterey. If you have questions, give us a call at 831-373-1534. You’ll be glad you did.
