  Tinted windows are great for a number of reasons. They can block dangerous UV rays, they look good, and also offer some privacy, so you don't feel like you are driving in a fishbowl when on the road. Keep in mind; there is such a thing as too dark of tint.   Is It Legal? In the south, we encounter many cars with really dark tinted windows. The advantage of dark tint is heat repellant and UV ray reduction. The intense heat of the south does tend to tax your air conditioner, so it is an advantage. As we move to the northern states, dark tint tends to signal that whoever is inside may have reason to hide.     Used parts from a junkyard can be a fantastic alternative to aftermarket parts, UNLESS that used part is also an aftermarket part. Cars can be in an accident more than once. If a vehicle that is in a wrecking yard, say, from a front-end impact and your vehicle requires a left rear door, this part could be a great option. What if that same car had been in an accident prior and was repaired before the front-end collision which made it a total loss? It’s raining, it’s pouring... and before you know it, you’ll need new wiper blades! As little as we think about windshield wipers up until we need them, we virtually never question their origin.   When you think about it, windshield wipers are actually an incredible invention, and critical to driver safety. They were first invented and patented in 1903 by Mary Anderson, who observed an issue with visibility after a trolley ride one year prior. What exactly is engine misfire? When your vehicle’s check engine appears on your dashboard, essentially, your engine is misfiring. There are a number of reasons why your engine could be misfiring.   Since BMW is the manufacturer of Mini Coopers, this advice is helpful for the owners of both vehicle brands. To help shed some light on how often BMW and Mini drivers should maintain their vehicles, our Master BMW Technician, David Robinson, offers some helpful advice: As a rule of thumb, the following timeline/mileage is used for maintenance on BMWs & MINIs: Engine oil & filter + cabin filter replacement = 15,000 miles/1 year (Personally, I tell my friends & family every 6 months to ensure oil is clean of grime & vapors, which can cause seals & gaskets to harden). On MINI Coopers, I recommend replacing the oil drain plug with every oil service (about $5.00). The nylon seal is embedded into the oil drain plug and has a tendency to not seal as well if re-used. To begin, here are some things you may or may not know about BMWs: BMW stands for “Bayerische Motoren Werke”. However, according to the late, great Bob Marley, he was a longtime BMW fan and owner because in his mind, BMW stood for “Bob Marley and the Whalers”. A world-renowned automobile, motorcycle, and engine manufacturing company, BMW also produces the MINI brand, and is the parent company of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
