BMW, also known as Bavarian Motor Works, was founded in Germany in 1916. A world-renowned automobile, motorcycle, and engine manufacturing company, BMW also produces the MINI brand, and is the parent company of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. When BMW first started, its specialty was aircraft engines, thus the reason their logo represents the movement of a white airplane propeller cutting through the blue sky, which also match the colors of the state of Bavaria. After World War I and the signing of the the Versailles Armistice Treaty ceased their ability to make aircraft engines, BMW became a motorcycle manufacturer in 1923, and additionally an automobile manufacturer in 1928.
